Annual Fund FAQs

What does the Annual Fund support?

The Annual Fund supports small class sizes, in-depth academics, integrated arts and other operating expenses. It also allows CLC to recruit and retain the best faculty and provide professional development opportunities for teachers.

How is Annual Fund money used differently than money raised by the Spring Fundraiser?

This money is used to ensure that the day-to-day expenses of providing quality educational experience are covered. From salaries to technology to resources, the annual fund directly impacts students. Money raised from the Spring Fundraiser has historically been used for scholarships.

What is the relationship between tuition and the Annual Fund?

Every effort is made to keep tuition affordable and lower than schools with the same high standards as CLC. Annual Fund donations contribute a critically needed portion of the gap between tuition and operating expenses. And, unlike tuition, Annual Fund donations are 100% tax deductible.

Why not raise tuition to pay for everything?

A large increase in tuition (the difference between tuition and actual costs) would limit the economic diversity we so value at our school.

Why not just cut expenses?

The Board of Trustees’ review of the operating expenses indicates that CLC is already being run as a “lean” organization. We do a great deal with relatively modest resources. Most of the tuition revenue goes towards salaries, benefits, and fixed costs such as utilities and basic maintenance. Since the school’s strength lies in its extensive programs, small class size, and close personal relationships, any reductions would compromise the mission of the school.

How much should I give?

We ask that you give at a level consistent with your abilities and the value you put on a CLC education.

While gifts that exceed the gap amount are crucial to the financial stability of the school, gifts of all sizes make a difference. All gifts send a message to members of the CLC community and to outside funding sources that those who benefit most from CLC support it.  Corporate and outside donors invariably want to know if the parents, alumni and grandparents support the school. Your participation is critical in this regard.

I would give more if I could spread my payments over several months. Is there a payment plan?

Yes, a monthly installment plan is available.

How does giving to the Annual Fund benefit me?

Because Cornerstone is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, your gift to the Annual Fund is 100% tax deductible. In addition, your gift directly benefits your own children. You can see the benefits of your gift every day in the experiences that help your child develop and grow to his/her fullest potential.

How can I double my donation to CLC?

Many corporations will match an employee’s gift to a school. Please contact your employer to see if your company offers this benefit.
