Callie Watson ('08)

Callie is our Board Secretary, and her mother was a founding board member, who served for close to eight years. Callie received her Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Central Florida in 2017, then went on to gain her Master of Architecture at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2022.

Emily Backes ('09)

Emily began attending Cornerstone the first year it opened, and stayed from Kindergarten all the way through eighth grade. After graduating from SAIL High School, Emily reconnected with her CLC family as the After School Coordinator, a camp counselor, and an All School Play Director.

After graduating from Florida State University with double Bachelors degrees in Family and Child Sciences and Theatre, Emily began working with children with behavioral and mental needs as a behavioral therapist and case manager. In August of 2023, Emily graduated with her Masters of Social Work from FSU, and plans on pursuing her License in Clinical Social Work as a Therapeutic Foster Care Consultant at Boys Town in North Florida.

"I still live by CLC's seven core virtues that were the foundation of every lesson taught throughout my time at Cornerstone, and credit CLC with instilling the creativity, critical thinking, and empathy that guides all of my actions and choices today."

Bethany Thomas ('09)

Bethany attended CLC from the second half of her Kindergarten year up until eighth grade. After graduating high school, she attended several universities due to being a military spouse. After five years, she obtained her Bachelors in English with a concentration in Creative Writing from the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia in 2018.

Bethany and her family moved back to Tallahassee in 2019. Bethany independently published her first novel in July of 2022, around the same time she came back to her home at CLC and took on the position of Office Manager. Now, she gets to watch from her office window as her four-year-old daughter creates memories of her own on the same campus where Bethany grew up!

"There's nothing more beautiful than seeing my daughter experience the same virtues and lessons that I received while growing up at CLC. She often tells me how much she loves her school the second we pull into the circle lot - and I wouldn't trade having her attend CLC for the world."
