Extracurriculars at Cornerstone

At Cornerstone Learning Community, learning doesn’t end when school lets out. Our after-school offerings help students discover new interests, build healthy habits, and deepen friendships—all within our caring, values-driven community. Programs vary by season and student interest, and we’re always adding new opportunities.

Cross Country

Students develop grit, endurance, and team spirit while training on local trails and our campus loop. Practices emphasize proper form, goal setting, and a growth mindset—whether it’s your first season or your fifteenth. Runners cheer each other on, learn pacing strategies, and celebrate personal bests at meets. (Traditionally open to grades 4 and up.)

Soccer

Our soccer program blends skill-building with plenty of play. Students work on footwork, passing, positioning, and sportsmanship through fun drills and scrimmages. All experience levels are welcome, and coaches highlight respect, teamwork, and joyful competition. (Traditionally open to grades 4 and up.)

LEGO Robotics

In the LEGO Robotics Club, students design, build, and program robots while learning teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving skills. This year, our team proudly competed at the World Lego Robotics 2025 Championship in Houston, Texas, showcasing innovation and engineering on a national stage. Whether you are a coder, a builder, or just curious, this is where big ideas come to life. Led by parent volunteers.

Art Therapy

Led by a licensed art therapy professional, these small-group sessions use creative media to support emotional literacy, self-expression, and coping skills. Students learn to name and navigate big feelings through drawing, painting, and mixed media.

Creative Art Studio

A hands-on, exploratory studio led by a local artist that invites students to experiment with color, texture, and form—think painting, collage, sculpture, and printmaking. Young artists practice technique while developing voice and confidence, culminating in informal shares or mini-exhibits.

Improv Acting Club

Yes-and! Through games and scene work led by a local acting coach, students build listening skills, quick thinking, and stage confidence. Improv fosters collaboration and empathy as students learn to take risks, support their scene partners, and find the funny without putting others down. Occasional showcases keep the laughter going.

Dance Classes

From foundational technique to expressive choreography, our dance offerings provided by a local studio (styles vary by session) develop coordination, musicality, and body awareness. Classes emphasize positive self-expression and perseverance, with optional end-of-session performances to celebrate growth.

And We’re Always Growing

Student interest drives what we offer. New clubs and classes are added throughout the year, so be sure to check school communications for sign-up information, schedules, and grade-level details. Have an idea? We love partnering with families and community experts to bring new experiences to life.
